Chromospheric network properties on short time scales from PSPT images

چکیده
Three sequences of Ca II K images obtained on May 3, May 19 and June 7, 1997 with the PSPT (Precision Solar Photometric Telescope) instrument at the Rome Observatory have been used to study variations of the chromospheric network on a short time scale. We have applied to each PSPT image an automated algorithm developed to derive the skeleton representative of the network pattern and to identify the internetwork cells. By using both of them, we have computed power spectra of chromospheric intensity oscillations in network and in-ternetwork regions. We have also compared network cell patterns derived for a quiet region over two hours of observations and described the displacements of the barycenters of the cells bordered by the network loops. The spectral analysis on data obtained by applying the network identi-cation procedure shows distinct network and the internetwork intensity oscillations. We connrm the ndings of other workers that the network does not partecipate in chromospheric three-minute oscillations, but that instead it oscillates in slow wave motions which are neither present in the surrounding internetwork chromosphere.

On the Geometrical Properties of the Chromospheric Network
A sequence of Ca K images obtained in a period of minimum solar activity , from July to November 1996, at the Rome Observatory with the PSPT (Precision Solar Photometric Telescope) prototype instrument have been used to analyze the geometrical properties of cells identiied by the chromospheric network. In particular , we used 256 256 sub-arrays of the calibrated full disk PSPT images. These sub...
متن کاملAn efficient method for cloud detection based on the feature-level fusion of Landsat-8 OLI spectral bands in deep convolutional neural network
Cloud segmentation is a critical pre-processing step for any multi-spectral satellite image application. In particular, disaster-related applications e.g., flood monitoring or rapid damage mapping, which are highly time and data-critical, require methods that produce accurate cloud masks in a short time while being able to adapt to large variations in the target domain (induced by atmospheric c...
متن کاملAverage properties and temporal variations of the geometry of solar network cells
The average properties of the network cells geometry and their temporal variations are investigated for quiet solar regions at the center of the solar disk. These regions were extracted from the daily Ca II K full-disk observations carried out at the Rome Observatory with the PSPT telescope during one year (from July 1996 to June 1997) at the beginning of Solar Cycle 23. We applied an automated...
متن کاملNumerical simulation of the three-dimensional structure and dynamics of the non-magnetic solar chromosphere
Three-dimensional numerical simulations with COBOLD, a new radiation hydrodynamics code, result in a dynamic, thermally bifurcated model of the non-magnetic chromosphere of the quiet Sun. The 3-D model includes the middle and low chromosphere, the photosphere, and the top of the convection zone, where acoustic waves are excited by convective motions. While the waves propagate upwards, they stee...
متن کاملEvidence of Shock-driven Turbulence in the Solar Chromosphere
We study the acoustic properties of the solar chromosphere in the high-frequency regime using a time sequence of velocity measurements in the chromospheric Ca II 854.2 nm line taken with the Interferometric Bidimensional Spectrometer (IBIS). We concentrate on quiet-Sun behavior, apply Fourier analysis, and characterize the observations in terms of the probability density functions (PDFs) of vel...
